Chelsey Brien

Chelsey is from Langley, British Columbia. She received her Honours B.Sc. in Chemistry from The University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus in 2020, where she completed her undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Prof. Frederic Menard. Her research involved synthesizing sulfonium-based compounds for applications in protein labelling. Chelsey joined the Yudin group as a Ph.D. student in May 2021, with interests in organic synthesis.



Daniel Ou

Daniel (Yang) Ou was born in Shenzhen, China. He received his B.Sc. with Honors in Chemistry from the University of Alberta. During his undergraduate, he worked on Asymmetric Catalysis under the supervision of Dr. Rylan Lundgren and Bioluminescence Assay Development under the supervision of Dr. Frederick West. In Sept 2022, Daniel joined the Yudin group as a graduate student interested in developing new methodology for heterocycle interconversion.



Morgan Cordell

Morgan was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. He received his BSc in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Waterloo. Under the supervision of Professor Scott Taylor, he completed his 4th year thesis on the synthesis of beta-hydroxy leucine derivatives. During co-ops at Paraza Pharma, Inc. and BioVectra, Inc. he completed projects relating to donor-acceptor cyclopropanes and nickel flow photoredox aminations. He joined the Yudin Group as a MSc in fall 2023 with interest in reaction discovery in heterocycle synthesis.



Betty Huang

Betty (aka Ben) was born and raised in Beijing, China but later moved to Vancouver, BC. She received her B. Sc. in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, during which she completed her undergraduate thesis on platinum (II) complexes in Dr. Mark MacLachlan's lab. She also completed Co-op terms at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute in Dr. John Bell's lab working on oncolytic viruses, and at Chinook Therapeutics Inc. conducting SAR of therapeutic molecules against kidney diseases. She joined the Yudin Group as a M. Sc. student in fall 2023 with interests in organic synthesis and reaction development.



Logan Fagu

Logan is from Bolton, ON. He received his BSc from the University of Guelph. Under the supervision of Professor France-Isabelle Auzanneau he completed his 4th year thesis on the study of investigating anomerization of GlcNAc disaccharides. Logan joined the Yudin group as a Ph.D. student in May 2025.



Jelena Golijanin

Jelena grew up in Vancouver, B.C., and then completed her B.Sc. in Synthetic and Catalytic Chemistry at the University of Toronto, where she worked on the synthesis of asymmetric ortho-bisphosphanes using phosphino-phosphenium salts and arynes under the supervision of Professor Douglas W. Stephan. She began her M.Sc. in the Yudin lab in September 2025. Her current research focuses on reaction discovery via isoreactive module replacement strategies involving boron, sulfur and phosphorus-containing compounds. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, hiking, playing volleyball and learning languages.



Thomas Sidarta Setio

Thomas Sidarta was born Surabaya, Indonesia. He is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Pharmaceutical Chemistry specialist with focus practical chemical analysis and chemistry minor. He enjoys cooking and hanging out with friends.

Chloe Baloh

Chloe was born in Detroit, Michigan. She is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Chemistry and Neuroscience, with interests in pursuing higher education in synthetic and medicinal organic chemistry. She was previously in Dr. Weaver's lab working on SAR and reaction development for therapeutics for Alzheimers disease, and joined the Yudin group in Fall 2025 for her senior thesis to learn more about macrocycles conformations and synthesis.

Chris was born in Hong Kong, and grew up in Cheltenham, England. He is currently an undergraduate in the University of Toronto, studying Catalytic and Synthetic Chemistry. In his spare time, Chris enjoys playing sports, gaming and complaining about his favourite sports teams.
