Tim is from Stirling, Scotland. He received his MChem in chemistry from the University of St Andrews in 2021, and continued for Ph.D. studies under the supervision of Prof. Allan Watson. His research primarily focused on method development for synthesis of heterocyclic aziridine, ethylamine, and organoboron compounds. In 2025, he also completed a short stay at the University of Münster as a visiting research scholar within the group of Prof. Ryan Gilmour, examining organocatalytic fluorination reactions. He joined the Yudin group in January 2026 as a postdoctoral fellow. |

Shambhu is from Ranchi, India. He received his Integrated Master’s degree in Chemistry from Birla Institute of Technology and completed his Master’s research project at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore under the supervision of Dr. Amrendra Singh . He then moved to Vancouver, Canada, to pursue his PhD at the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. David Perrin. His doctoral research focused on synthetic organic, medicinal, and peptide chemistry for the development of amanitin-based targeted therapeutics and functionalization strategies for antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) and other targeted delivery platforms. He joined the Yudin Group in July 2026 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. |

Chelsey is from Langley, British Columbia. She received her Honours B.Sc. in Chemistry from The University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus in 2020, where she completed her undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Prof. Frederic Menard. Her research involved synthesizing sulfonium-based compounds for applications in protein labelling. Chelsey joined the Yudin group as a Ph.D. student in May 2021, with interests in organic synthesis. |

Daniel (Yang) Ou was born in Shenzhen, China. He received his B.Sc. with Honors in Chemistry from the University of Alberta. During his undergraduate, he worked on Asymmetric Catalysis under the supervision of Dr. Rylan Lundgren and Bioluminescence Assay Development under the supervision of Dr. Frederick West. In Sept 2022, Daniel joined the Yudin group as a graduate student interested in developing new methodology for heterocycle interconversion. |

Morgan was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. He received his BSc in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Waterloo. Under the supervision of Professor Scott Taylor, he completed his 4th year thesis on the synthesis of beta-hydroxy leucine derivatives. During co-ops at Paraza Pharma, Inc. and BioVectra, Inc. he completed projects relating to donor-acceptor cyclopropanes and nickel flow photoredox aminations. He joined the Yudin Group as a MSc in fall 2023 with interest in reaction discovery in heterocycle synthesis. |

Betty (aka Ben) was born and raised in Beijing, China but later moved to Vancouver, BC. She received her B. Sc. in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, during which she completed her undergraduate thesis on platinum (II) complexes in Dr. Mark MacLachlan's lab. She also completed Co-op terms at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute in Dr. John Bell's lab working on oncolytic viruses, and at Chinook Therapeutics Inc. conducting SAR of therapeutic molecules against kidney diseases. She joined the Yudin Group as a M. Sc. student in fall 2023 with interests in organic synthesis and reaction development. |

Logan is from Bolton, ON. He received his BSc from the University of Guelph. Under the supervision of Professor France-Isabelle Auzanneau he completed his 4th year thesis on the study of investigating anomerization of GlcNAc disaccharides. Logan joined the Yudin group as a Ph.D. student in May 2025. |

Jelena grew up in Vancouver, B.C., and then completed her B.Sc. in Synthetic and Catalytic Chemistry at the University of Toronto, where she worked on the synthesis of asymmetric ortho-bisphosphanes using phosphino-phosphenium salts and arynes under the supervision of Professor Douglas W. Stephan. She began her M.Sc. in the Yudin lab in September 2025. Her current research focuses on reaction discovery via isoreactive module replacement strategies involving boron, sulfur and phosphorus-containing compounds. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, hiking, playing volleyball and learning languages. |

Chloe was born in Detroit, Michigan. She is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Chemistry and Neuroscience, with interests in pursuing higher education in synthetic and medicinal organic chemistry. She was previously in Dr. Weaver's lab working on SAR and reaction development for therapeutics for Alzheimers disease, and joined the Yudin group in Fall 2025 for her senior thesis to learn more about macrocycles conformations and synthesis. |

Matthew was born in Hong Kong and completed his undergraduate studies in Synthetic and Catalytic Chemistry at the University of Toronto. He previously worked under the supervision of Professor Mark Taylor as a summer UTEA and final-year thesis student, where he investigated the regioselective and asymmetric synthesis of N-alkylated azoles using nickel catalysis. He also joined Prof. Han Vinh Huynh’s lab at the National University of Singapore as a summer exchange student, where he investigated donor-flexible benzimidazolinylidene-amide ligands. Matthew joined the Yudin group in Fall 2026 as a Ph.D. student with interests in novel synthetic transformations. |

Juliana is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Biological Chemistry. She has previously worked in the the Nitz Lab on the synthesis of N-acetylglucosamine thioglycosides for display on a polymer. She is excited to be joining the Yudin Group to complete a UTEA summer research project on the synthesis of nucleobase-containing biaryls and their incorporation into macrocycles. In her free time, Juliana enjoys going for walks, cooking, and getting coffee. |

Dorothee was born in Bangkok, Thailand, but grew up in Ottawa, Ontario. Currently, she is an undergraduate at the University of Toronto in her fifth year of study in the Chemistry Specialist program. Previously, she worked a summer in the lab of Dr. Ing. Helge Stein at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) Catalysis Research Center. There, she undertook a combinatorial synthesis of metal nanoparticles, exploring a sustainable and inexpensive alternative to a MOFs-based framework. As a part of her CHM395 thesis in the Yudin lab, she is investigating facile reduction of pyrimidine-containing blocks in the context of peptide synthesis. Otherwise, she is interested in medicinal chemistry and organic electronics chemistry. |

Taiqi grew up between Singapore and Guiyang, China, before moving to Toronto, Canada. He is currently a 4th-year student in the Synthetic and Catalytic Chemistry program at the University of Toronto. Previously, he was a DAAD RISE intern with Prof. Stefan Bräse at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany, where he completed the multistep synthesis and functionalization of a novel push-pull chromophore for electro-optic applications. He has also worked with Prof. Mark Taylor on Bayesian optimization of Enzyme-catalyzed site-selective deacylation reactions of carbohydrates, and Prof. Caitlin Maikawa on the synthesis and characterization of novel reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive copolymers for intestinal inflammation biosensing. He is joining the Yudin group for his CHM499 thesis and is excited to work on frameshifted heterocycle synthesis. Outside of the lab, Taiqi enjoys hiking, travelling, eating good food, and listening to music. |
